United Nations Human Rights
35. Session (06.06. – 23.06.2017)
Thursday, 8th June 2017 at Hall XX, Palais des Nations
The Hall of Human Rights and alliance of civilizations (Room XX) is one of the biggest conference room of the office of the United Nations in Geneva (UNOG). The main characteristic point of the renovated Hall is the sculpture at the ceiling manufactured by the prominent contemporary Spanish artist Miquel Barceló. In this impressive room which is provided for 754 people the 35th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council takes place.
When we participated in this session the Hall was occupied to the last space. The following organisations reported to word:
- NGO INTERNATIONAL LESBIAN AND GAY ASSOCIATION
- NGO ASSOCIATION DES ETUDIANTS TAMOULS DE FRANCE
- NGO COLOMBIAN COMMISSION OF JURISTS
- NGO INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS LEAGUES
- NGO MINORITY RIGHTS GROUP
- NGO COMISION MEXICANA DE DEFENSA Y PROMOCION DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS ASOCIACION CIVIL
- NGO HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH
- NGO ASSOCIATION PAIX POUR LA LUTTE CONTRE LA CONTRAINTE ET L’INJUSTICE
- NGO UNITED NATION WATCH
- NGO CONSEIL INTERNATIONAL POUR LE SOUTIEN A DES PROCES EQUITABLES ET AUX DROITS DE L’HOMME
- NGO UNITED NATION WATCH
- NGO ASSOCIATION MAURITANIENNE POUR LA PROMOTION DES DROITS DE L’HOMME
Because of the enormous high number of speakers their time to speak was strictly limited. This led to the fact that the voters spoke too fast so that even the professional simultaneous interpreters lost the thread (for amusement in the plenary).
For this reason it is impossible for us delegates to go more into detail of the many given and reeled off speeches.
Those who are yet interested in the individual votes (original version) have the possibility to hear them using the following link:

Of course for each session a report is available. You can read them using the following link:
