On 10th May, in Rome, the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro, organized a national meeting to discuss the theme of human rights related to crises and emergencies in the Civil Protection contest.   The meeting, arranged with the LIDU, received the meeting received the moral patronage by the Italian Office of the European Commission, the Centro Servizi per il Volontariato of Lazio, and by the Municipal Councils of three small towns very damaged by the strong earthquake that occurred in central Italia few months ago: Comune of Accumoli, Comune of Amatrice, Comune of Norcia.

The speakers have been the Honorary President of LIDU On. Alfredo Arpaia, the National President of LIDU Dr. Antonio Stango, the Lazarus Union Vice President and Commander of the Italian Saint Lazarus Corps Prof. Antonio Virgili, the CSLI Italia expert in civil protection Dr. Mariangela Garramone, the representatives of the citizens living in the earthquake damaged areas. They were present at the meeting the representatives of some Italian civil protection groups, scholars and human rights activists. The idea of Prof. Virgili to closely associate the crisis prevention, crisis intervention and human rights culture has gained considerable interest and it was decided to follow up the meeting by promoting more meetings and a short publication on the subject in order to contribute to a cultural change on the theme.On the occasion of the meeting was also signed an agreement for cooperation between the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro and the “Brigata Volontaria SVS Roma” for civil protection activities.
