On 4.6.2022 it was so far. The music corps woke up from its “Sleeping Beauty Sleep”, which was imposed due to Corona, and was able to perform in public again in the usual way.
Anlass war das 42. Österreichische Blasmusikfest, welches wie vor Corona,
The occasion was the 41st Austrian Brass Band Festival, which, as before Corona, was again held in Vienna. A total of 11 bands from Austria and South Tyrol were in action. For Vienna played the post office and Telekom music Vienna as well as our music band, the music corps of the Lazarus union. This year, unfortunately, there was no joint parade on the Ring including a community game at the Rathausplatz.
Instead, each orchestra played two concerts in the 1st district of Vienna. We were allowed to play at the Graben near the plague column and at the Heldenplatz near the equestrian statue of Archduke Karl. Of course there was something for everyone in the program. Marches, Viennese melodies, Bohemian polkas as well as Schlagermusik. The numerous audience liked our music, which thanked us with numerous applause. Our thanks go to the City of Vienna, Basis Kultur, the Vienna Brass Band Association and our on-site supervisor Peter Schauer.
But I would also like to thank our musicians, who again made excellent music. You could notice that they were also happy to be able to play together in public again without any restrictions. Afterwards, the mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, invited all musicians to a reception in the arcade courtyard at 6 p.m. for food and drink, where it became very cozy.
