For the third consecutive year, the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro has organized a major event for the international day promoted by the United Nations. It was held in Rome, on October 12, at the Iotti conference hall of the Chamber of Deputies, a relevant high-level national panel for the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The event has obtained the patronage of important European and Italian institutions and of specialized research institutions.
The Prime Minister Prof. Conte, sent a message of greeting and wishes for the event. The Commander of Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro Prof. Virgili, opened the works and welcomed the guests, presenting the event, its aims and the activities of the Corpo Italiano. Immediately afterwards, a delegate from the Municipality spoke and brought the message from the Mayor of Rome. The reports of various experts and speakers followed, discussing aspects related to disaster prevention and some further targeted themes about disaster communications.
The speakers were: Dr. Miozzo, Director General of the Department of Civil Protection; Prof. Doglioni, President of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology; Dr. Wabbes, a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization official; Prof. Di Ludovico, general secretary of the National Institute of Urban Planning; Eng.
