Martetschläger Walter  A report by Walter Martetschläger, Captain Master CSLI-NC

During a festival mass musically arranged by the “Band of Fohnsdorf” not only the banner of the Naval Comradeship of the Lazarus Union was consecrated on May 5th 2018.

But this was not the only reason. It was also the opportunity to congratulate die Volunteer Bire Brigade to its 130th birthday.

In friendship the anti-aircraft defence bataillon 2 with its Commander Colonel Edwin Pekovsek took spontaneously part in this celebration

The solemn mass was concluded by the exchange of ribbons of friendship of friendly associations.

Special thanks to our President, Senator Prof. h.c. Wolfgang Steinhardt. Our banner now proudly carries a banner ribbon of the Lazarus Union.

Special thanks to all comrades who travelled great distances to attend this event.

According to our tasks the real background was to start a great charity concert with brunch for the benefit of the Life Aid of Murtal with a lot of help from our Fire Brigade celebrating its birthday.

Spontaneously the „Band of Fohnsdorf”, the Ralph Duschek Combo, the Shanty Chor “Admiral Tegetthoff” and our international Musical Star Gernot Kramner with his great Musical-Academy agreed to support this project free of charge.

The visitors could enjoy a three hours musical firework display and were spoiled with a wonderful buffet prepared by “Murtal Catering”.

At the same time there was a competitive and equipment exhibition of the Fire Brigade and the anti-aircraft bataillon on the forecourt of the Workers’ Hostel.

The Naval Comradeship of the Navy Corps of the Lazarus Union warmly thanks all sponsors, donators, participants and the many helping people who made this event possible. We can hand out 3.000 Euro to the Life Aid, 1.500 Euro to the youth development of the Volunteer Fire Brigade and 600 Euro to the Parish of Fohnsdorf for supporting poor people.

Walter Martetschläger, Captain Master CSLI-NC
